We are currently dealing with the hottest week of the year around Texas, but we know at some point, the hot weather will go away and one morning during the fall, it will feel quite frosty outside.

Let's be honest, the first day of Fall 2024, is just over a month away and while we will still have a few warm weeks in late September, it won't be long before we are sipping hot chocolate and getting ready for Halloween.

For years now the Farmer's Almanac has been making predictions about our weather and there are a lot of people who rely on the Farmer's Almanac when it comes to planting and harvesting season. Yes cooler weather is on its way to Texas (eventually) and that means our first frost of the season will be here before we know it. So when will Texas experience a frost? With as big of a state that we live in, the first frost really depends on where you live.

When Will These Texas Cities See The First Frost of 2024?

According to the Farmer's Almanac, here's when the following cities in Texas will see their first frost in 2024.

Amarillo- October 24

Lubbock- October 28

San Angelo- November 4

Wichita Falls- November 4

Abilene- November 5

Austin- November 10

Tyler- November 13

El Paso- November 14

Dallas- November 20

Houston- December 8

Of course, these are only predictions based on historical data. As the Almanac.com puts it, there is a chance of frost occurring before or after the given date.

Note that frost dates are only an estimate based on historical climate data and are not set in stone. The probability of a frost occurring after the spring frost date or before the fall frost date is 30%, which means  there is still a chance of frost occurring before or after the given dates!

Frost is predicted when air temperatures reach 32 degrees.
