
GUILTY: Lubbock Youth Advisor Found Guilty of Sexually Abusing Children
A Lubbock jury this week found a man guilty of sexually abusing children.
James Nathan Grassie, 49, a former Lubbock youth advisor, was found guilty on Thursday on three counts of continuous sexual abuse of a child. According to KAMC, Grassie was the co-founder of a faith-based group for youth called "Trail Life".
The prosecutor in the case, Courtney Boyd, said that Grassie goes by "many names but three boys in the community call him their abuser". According to KAMC the defense did not give an opening statement on the first day of the trail.
Three Victims Came Forward Against Grassie in Lubbock
According to KAMC, one victim testified that the abuse began during a camping trip and happened "frequently". He also testified that Grassie told him not to tell anyone about what had happened. Two other victims testified that Grassie had showed them pornography and touched them inappropriately. One of the victims, according to KAMC said the abuse happened when he was just 8 or 9 years old.
Prosecutor Cassie Graham called the victims brave for coming forward.
The jury began deliberations at 11:20 a.m. and came back with a verdict of guilty just before 1:00 p.m.
According to KAMC, Grassie faces up to life in prison.
