What You Need to Know Before Disposing at Lubbock Landfills
You know what they say: 'Waste not want not.' Well, when it comes to actual waste, Lubbock makes it super simple to make it disappear in as least amount of headaches as possible.
With that being said, let's go through the process and what you need to know when dropping off items at the Lubbock landfill.
A Waste of Time in Lubbock
In Lubbock, the materials that are accepted at either of the two landfill sites include the following:
- Non-hazardous waste - These include bulky items, lawn clippings, etc.
- Wood - These items will be buried to slowly degrade into the Earth over time.
- Approved special waste - Some drop-offs require certain approval before they can be dumped off. These can include waste that has unique chemical characteristics, load size, or biological properties that are different than common waste.
If you are in need of disposing special waste that you know potentially includes asbestos, you should first call the Environmental Compliance Specialist at (806) 757-2151.

How much will it cost to dump items at the Lubbock landfill?
Well, at this time, the disposal fee for dumping within the City of Lubbock is $33.94 per ton. Don't ask me why it's so specific down to the cent, I have no idea why.
If you choose to take your waste to the West Texas Region Disposal Facility, you get to pay a slightly higher fee of $40.94.
Guess what, if your load is not strapped down or doesn't have a tarp over it, you will be charged a $15 violation fee.
Also, a deposit of $50 to over $100 will be required for each load. This will be dependent on the size of the load, but you must have a valid driver's license with the payment method (credit card or cash).
So, there's your crash course on the Lubbock landfill drop-off process. I do accept tips.
