Soaking Rain and Severe Weather Could Impact Parts of Texas This Week
No snow, but soaking rains are possible for parts of Texas this week as temperatures begin to rise heading into the weekend.
What a difference a few days makes. This past Friday there were weather models showing a possible snowstorm was heading towards Texas that could have dumped 6-12 inches of snow from the panhandle to central Texas. Fast forward a few days and now it appears as though warmer temperatures and rain will fall on parts of Texas and some could even see some severe weather.
For those in the Panhandle and South Plains, our best chance of rain will be on Wednesday before temperatures rise all the way into the mid-70's by Sunday. We are not expected to get a lot of rain out of this system.
North Texas Expected to Get Soaking Rains
As of right now, North Texas, Texoma, and Northeast Texas are expected to see the heaviest amounts of rain on Wednesday and Thursday. Some locations could see over 2 inches of rain by Thursday night.
Severe Weather Could Impact Parts Of Texas This Week
Not only will these areas see rain on Wednesday and Thursday, but a large area of the state, from Texoma to South Texas and from Abilene to east of Waco could see severe weather on Wednesday. On Thursday, North Texas along with East Texas, Texoma, Northeast Texas, Southeast Texas and Central Texas could all be in a severe weather risk area.
According to the Texas Storm Chasers Facebook page, the risk for tornadoes is low on both Wednesday and Thursday.
