The Iconic Robert Bruno Steel House Near Lubbock Has Been Auctioned Off
The iconic Robert Bruno Steel House near Lubbock in Ransom Canyon is starting a new chapter after being auctioned off on Tuesday evening. The home that overlooks the lake east of Lubbock had been for sale for a while.
If you aren't familiar with the house, the home is like living in a piece of art. The home was the idea and work of artist Robert Bruno who passed away before its completion. The home took more than 30 years to complete and his daughter sold it in 2021.
In 2023, the house was purchased and turned into an Airbnb location. At the beginning of 2024, the house was listed for sale and at one time the property was listed for just over $1.7 million dollars.
The house went up for auction on Tuesday with a starting minimum bid of $250,000.
According to Assiter Real Estate, the winning bid was $775,000. The closing date on the iconic 3 bedroom, 2.6 bath home is expected by December 27. The home is located at 85 East Canyon View Drive in Ransom Canyon which is about 10 miles east of Lubbock.
No word yet on who the new owners are or what they plan to do with the steel house. Will it remain mainly an Airbnb or will someone, perhaps a family live there full time?
