Unregistered Sex Offender Caught in Lubbock, Confesses to Not Registering
Thirty-seven-year-old Louis Martinez has accepted a plea deal for failure to register as a sex offender.
Martinez was convicted in 2011 of criminal sexual conduct with a minor in the state of Minnesota. KAMC News reports he was required to register as a sex offender in Minnesota, and was subject to sex offender registration under Texas law, but admitted that he failed to do so.
The U.S Marshals Service discovered that Martinez was living in the 4400 block of Avenue Q in Lubbock since February 2018 without being registered as a sex offender. He was arrested in mid-May and has been in the Lubbock County Detention Center since then.
If the judge accepts the plea deal, Martinez will be sentenced at a later date to no more than 10 years in prison.
