Lubbock County Sheriff's Deputies and troopers with the Department of Public Safety were led on a car chase through Central Lubbock Wednesday night.

Police say the chase began at around 7:30 p.m. when officers stopped a white 2002 Ford Explorer in the 1900 block of 45th Street for a routine violation.

After an officer made contact with the driver, he sped off. The chase came to an end roughly 30 minutes later at 48th Street and University Avenue, where the driver was arrested without incident.

The driver was booked into the Lubbock County Detention Center on charges of evading arrest, driving with an invalid license, and other outstanding warrants.
