The 30th year of this big Lubbock 4th of July tradition, 4th On Broadway, has been rescheduled to Labor Day Weekend September 7th at Mackenzie Park, due to COVID-19, according to an announcement and press release earlier today.

“We are doing everything in our power to celebrate our American independence and our freedom to work together,” Don Caldwell, president and executive director of Broadway Festivals said on the press release. “Our theme reflects our commitment in making sure we honor our front-line workers, our first responders, all those who have given so much during this catastrophic time in our country.”

This year's 4th On Broadway, Labor Day celebration theme is 'Working Together United We Stand', and  will be held at Lubbock's Mackenzie Park on Labor Day, September 7th. It is free to the public.

Here are highlights of what has been announced for the celebration so far. This big spectacular event at Mackenzie Park will kick off with the SONIC Parade at 9 am, and will include the Bolton Oil Youth Fishing Tournament, from 11 am - 4 pm. Plus it'll be time to chow down at 5 pm with the River Smith's Catfish and Cobbler Eating Contest.

The artists set to perform for the Alderson BMW Daytime Music In the Park have not been announced yet. But we can expect some tremendous West Texas music from two big stages.

This year some relief from the heat is in store for us thanks to Sunbelt Rentals Cool Zone. These are huge evaporative coolers and misters that will be set up at various locations throughout the park.

Plus the kids will have a blast in the Covenant Children's Kids Area, with inflatables, games and more.
