Slaton Bakery Is Temporarily Closed After Devastating Fire
The City of Slaton suffered a major loss when a fire broke out in the center of town. It burned at least three well known businesses to the ground and left many asking how they can help and whether the surrounding businesses have been affected.
This morning while on-air, we asked about Slaton Bakery. A listener called in to say that the bakery was open, but that they were only taking orders by phone. However, an update to their Facebook page this afternoon delivered terrible news, stating that the bakery would be closed "for at least a week."
Klemke's BBQ and The Slaton Family Medical Clinic suffered a total loss and have had GoFundMe campaigns started to assist in the effort to restore the businesses.

The devastation began in the early morning hours on Saturday, June 14th. By sunrise, most of the community was up and outside watching as some of the most beloved establishments on the South Plains were engulfed in flames.
Dramatic video was posted on Facebook of the enormous blaze.
