Sugar Brown's (1947 19th Street) is closing their doors permanently as of Tuesday, June 9th at noon.

According to their Facebook page:

It comes with a heavy heart to have to announce that we will be permanently closing down our 19th St. Cafe at 12PM today. Our vision to grow and foster an environment that promotes love and community was the foundation of this place. Unfortunately, our landlord has decided to remove Sugar Browns from their property.

My husband and I had our first "official" date at this location of Sugar Brown's, so I certainly sad to see it go. Luckily, new locations are coming very soon:

Our downtown location in the Wells Fargo Building will expand its dining space and will be open from 7am to 6pm starting June 10. Our Indiana location will be ready to serve you in the late summer/early fall.

You can read Sugar Brown's full statement about closing here.

Additionally, Sugar Brown's is in the beginning stages of opening a coffee roasting facility as well.

While I am quite sad to see this peaceful, lovely location closed down, I am very excited about the future of Sugar Brown's. To have a location that will be about one mile from the radio station? That's going to benefit me quite directly.
