There's a country-themed tribute to Buddy Holly coming out next month. It's called "The Buddy Holly Country Tribute: Remember Me" and it's out September 7th, which would have been Buddy's 78th birthday. Merle Haggard is one of the performers on it.
The United Family today announced that it is providing the initial donation of $1,000 for “The McCartney Oak,” to be planted in the Buddy and Maria Elena Holly Plaza, home of the Buddy Holly statue and West Texas Walk of Fame at 19th & Buddy Holly Ave.
As you now know, Paul McCartney is coming to Lubbock on June 14th. During the press conference announcing the show, Mayor Glen Robertson said, “He reached out and said I want to play in the hometown of Buddy Holly.”

After seeing 'The Buddy Holly Story' starring Gary Busey, Sonny Curtis was unhappy about how the story was told. So, he wrote his OWN version. Like Sonny says, 'Remember they had a whole movie to tell their story, but all I got is a song and my story's got to rhyme'.
