Texas Governor Greg Abbott made the announcement Thursday, Nov. 19 while visiting Lubbock during a surge in COVID-19. He also gave news on a new therapy drug.
Sunday, October 25th, marked the 7th consecutive day where Trauma Service Area B, which includes Lubbock, had a COVID-19 hospitalization rate of over 15%.
The unemployment rate continues to decline in Texas, but the unemployed are still struggling. That could soon change though, with Gov. Abbott applying for federal funding.
Governor Greg Abbott on Monday issued a Proclamation extending the early voting period for the November 3rd Election by nearly a week. Under this proclamation, early voting by personal appearance will begin on Tuesday, October 13, 2020, and continue through Friday, October 30, 2020.
In a statement Monday, Gov. Abbott announced that passing the STAAR test would not be a requirement to move on to the next grade for 5th and 8th graders.
"People are starting to get back in the habit of going out, and I think that's good. It's not a lightswitch kind of thing. I don't think we thought it would be, and I think we know it was not. You know, it's more of a gradual rebuild," Pope said.
