Yank it or Crank it

Delbert McClinton has a new album out now called “Blind, Crippled & Crazy”. In honor of his new release, I thought we would feature one of his hits for 'Yank it or Crank it?' today.

Billy Swan had his only hit in 1974. He became one of the great 'one hit wonders' of that decade selling a million copies and going all the way to #1 with "I Can Help".

Several years ago I got a request during 'Open Line Friday' for "Cottonfields" by CCR. As always, I obliged. We live in the cotton capitol of the world, plus it's a GREAT song! Or so I thought...

In 1970, Stevie Wonder did a funky cover version of the Beatles' hit on his album Signed, Sealed, and Delivered, and released it as a single in 1971. The single reached #13 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned Stevie a Grammy nomination.

"And Your Bird Can Sing" was composed by John Lennon and was included on the Beatles album "Revolver". The distinctive harmonies and the dual guitar parts. This is also one of the harder songs to play on Beatles Rock Band!

In May of 1967, Australia's Easybeats hit #16 on the American pop charts with their song "Friday on My Mind". Not surprisingly, they made it all the way to #1 in their home country. Their lead singer, George Young, is the older brother of Angus and Malcom Young of the band AC/DC.

Black Oak Arkansas was named after their hometown and had only one big hit during their decade-long career. That hit was "Jim Dandy". That also happens to be the nickname of their lead singer, Jim "Dandy" Mangrum.

The J. Geils Band was somewhat under the radar for mass audiences in the 70's, but broke out when they became one of the first 70's bands to embrace 'music television'...MTV.

One of the very first 'super-groups', Blind Faith included Steve Winwood, Ginger Baker, Eric Clapton and Ric Grech. 'Can't Find My Way Home' was teh biggest hit the band ever had. Yank it or crank it? Vote now!
