The Red Raiders and Coach Matt Wells have obviously assessed the needs they have left on their roster with Spring Football wrapping up last weekend. They have signed a couple defensive backs and now add a grad transfer running back from a Power 5 school to help supplement the ground attack in 2019.

The former Utah Ute Armand Shyne, great name by the way, joins Texas Tech as a Senior with one season of Eligibility left. His 6 foot 200 pound frame should offer durability at the position.

In his time at Utah Shyne amassed 885 yards on 198 carries for a 4.5 yard per carry average. He was not a factor in the passing game, but he did score 9 times in his two seasons of action. His paltry receiving numbers are a result of the system at Utah, more than his ability.

In both of Shyne's seasons at Utah he was a piece of the puzzle and not the feature back. I would assume that would be the case moving forward as well at Texas Tech with Shyne fitting into a group with Ta'Zhawn Henry and SaRodorick Thompson. The mystery here is the availability of Da'Leon Ward who was dismissed indefinitely from Spring Football for unspecified reasons.
