The highly anticipated debut of the 13th ranked Red Raiders went off to near perfection against the Northwestern State Demons as Mac McClung and Marcus Santos-Silva led Texas Tech to the blowout 43-point victory. The final of 101-58 showed an offensive prowess from Texas Tech that was lacking last year. The Red Raiders shot 54% from the field and 40% from beyond the arc with eight makes on 20 attempts.

The chemistry on the team also seemed really good for the first game of the season with unselfish play leading to 22 assists on 38 made shots. Eight Red Raiders finished the game with between 18 and 21 minutes. 12 players got on the floor with only Kevin McCullar and Vladislav Goldin held out due to injury.

The most anticipated debut for the Red Raiders was Georgetown transfer Mac McClung, even Patrick Mahomes was tuned in early to see the Red Raiders' new star.

It wasn't only newcomers making their presence felt. Sophomore Terrence Shannon Jr. started this season how he finished the last with solid midrange shooting and big steals that lead to big dunks on the other end.

By halftime, the Red Raiders led 57-29 while shooting nearly 60% from the floor.

The Red Raiders never let up. With 11:00 minutes left on the clock, all five starters had passed into the double-digit range with Santos-Silva locking in a double-double in his Red Raider debut. He'd finish with 10 points and 12 rebounds. McClung dropped 20 in his introduction to Red Raider fans. He added three assists and three steals.

Shannon added 16 and freshman Micah Peavy added 14 with 11 boards and five steals between them. Veteran leader Kyler Edwards would round out the double-digit scorers with 10 of his own along with 6 assists and 5 rebounds in 21 minutes.
