After a week spent ranked 18th in the country, the Red Raiders are back at no. 15 after a 2-0 week beating Kansas State and Iowa State.

Texas Tech needed the wins after starting Big 12 play 1-2, especially to silence the haters that inevitably creep up when a team shows cracks in their armor. Now, up three spots in the AP and 3-2 in the Big 12, the Red Raiders have their toughest week of the regular season on deck.

On Wednesday, January 13th, the Red Raiders will travel to Austin to play the Texas Longhorns. In recent years, that wouldn't be too intimidating, but this season the Longhorns are undefeated in Big 12 play and look like one of the two best teams in the conference, along with Baylor.

Speaking of Baylor, they travel to Lubbock on Saturday for a game against Texas Tech.

If the Red Raiders go 2-0, they would vault themselves back into title contention and have them on the fast track to the top 8. If they go 0-2, depending on the scores of the games, it would secure them as a second-tier team in the league, but still probably in the top 18.

A 1-1 week would place the Red Raiders in the same boat as they are today, with just a little more pep in their step.

It might be that the Baylor Bears are extra rested when it comes to Saturday, their game against West Virginia is currently postponed after positive COVID-19 tests within the West Virginia program.
