The tremendous Lubbock Gem and Mineral Show, originally set for Saturday and Sunday, May 30th and 31st, has been moved to August at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center, according to their website.

The new dates for this exciting show are Saturday and Sunday, August 1st and 2nd, 2020. It's still a two-day show.

This show is presented by the Lubbock Gem and Mineral Society, which formed more than 60 years ago. This annual event brings a wide variety of stones and gems, with over 60 booths to explore and discover.

The study of rocks, fossils, and minerals has fascinated many of us for years. The Lubbock Gem and Mineral Society is a member of the South Central Federation of Mineral Societies, which includes Texas, Louisiana, and Arkansas. There are about 36 clubs with 3,600 members, according to their Facebook page.

It's no wonder so many of us look forward to this big show every year. We can expect to see as many as 60 displays and even a special feature: a fluorescent tent. This special glowing tent actually displays some pretty exciting rocks that glow in the dark.

Also, get out to see beautiful authentic jewelry, beads, and stones in every shape and size. See loose stones that are rough and polished. Plus, giant slabs of beautiful stone.

There will be hourly door prizes and a terrific kids area with games and prizes.

Make plans for the Lubbock Gem and Mineral Show at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center, located at 1501 Mac Davis Lane.

Adult tickets are just $4 at the door, and tickets for kids aged 6-12 are just $2. Kids under 6 get in for free.

Mark your calendar for this great fun family-friendly show. This event runs 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. on Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. You can visit their Facebook page for more details.
