With the confirmation of the coronavirus in San Antonio, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center Experts have weighed in on the situation.

According to a tip sheet sent out by TTUHSC, only those who have been to Wuhan, China in the past 14 days or have been exposed to someone who was in Wuhan are at risk.

The coronavirus exhibits cold-like symptoms: runny nose, coughing, shortness of breath, chest pain, fever and respiratory failure.

Coronavirus is spread in the air by coughing and sneezing, close personal contact, and by touching an object or surface with the virus on it, then touching your mouth, nose or eyes before washing your hands. It's advised that you take the same precautions you'd use for the flu.

There is currently no vaccine or cure for coronavirus and it's estimated that it will take around 12-18 months to develop an effective vaccine.

However, doctors have stressed that most US citizens are not at risk of contracting the virus.
