The Texas Department of Transportation will begin work on roadway improvements along U.S. 70/84 in Bailey County.

The $18.1 million project entails resurfacing the road, adding deceleration lanes, and building culverts at crossovers to more than nine miles of U.S. 70/84, from the Parmer County Line to Uvalde Street in Muleshoe.

Work on the inside lanes of U.S. 70/84 at the Parmer County Line is where the project will start. Drivers should expect reduced speed in the work area, intermittent lane closures, and detours.

Work is scheduled to be completed in fall 2022, weather permitting.

The project is spearheaded by Duininck, Inc., of Roanoke, Texas.
