Monday, Oct. 24 kicks off the early voting period for the 2016 election in Texas. Early voting runs through November 4th, with Election Day on November 8th. You can find polling locations for early voting here.

In July, a court ruling said that Texas' Voter ID law was discriminatory and ordered a district judge to come up with a short term fix for the November election. You still have to show an ID when you vote, unless you don't have one. Which means you'll have to sign a form and show other forms of ID.

Below are the accepted forms of ID for this year's election:

  • Texas State Drivers License issued by DPS
  • Texas Election Identification Certificate issued by DPS
  • Texas License to Carry (formally known as the Texas Conceald Carry Permit)
  • Texas Personal Identification Card
  • Military ID Card with Photo
  • U.S. Passport
  • U.S. Citizenship Certificate that includes a photo

Don't have one of the above forms of ID? Voters without an ID who wish to vote will have to sign a form where they swear that they have a "reasonable impediment" from getting an ID. Those voters will also have to provide one of the following:

  • Valid Voter Registration Certificate
  • Copy or the original of a current bank statement, utility bill, paycheck or other document proving the voter's name and address.
  • Certified Birth Certificate
