You gotta love a good old-fashioned American success story, especially when it involves doing what you love and being your own boss.

Not long ago, my wife was looking for a new place to get her hair done while also wanting to support local business. After some investigation, she discovered a new salon that was opening up on 50th Street. She struck up a conversation with the owner, Brittney Marie, and discovered that her new salon wasn't even really "open" yet. She was taking new clients, but hadn't celebrated her "grand opening" officially.

Well, that day is just about here.

Brittney's "affair with hair" started as a hobby that brought in some extra money, which led to her graduation from cosmetology school. She was able to work in her beloved field until COVID-19 hit, then found employment in a local medical office. She stuck with her passion and did hair and waxing every moment she could.

Then, one day, she discovered that a salon was up for sale on 50th Street.

While still working full-time and working her side hustle, she researched what was needed to buy the location and did all of the leg work during her lunch hours, without missing a day of work or telling anyone.

After working tirelessly to fix and clean up the spot, she began taking clients and has turned her side hustle into her calling.

There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony for Designers Group Salon on Thursday, August 5th with the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce, with her "official" grand opening slated for August 7th at 5 p.m. at 3824 50th Street, Unit F.

If you're a nail tech, hair stylist, cosmetologist, massage therapist, et al, Brittney is looking to add to her staff and menu of services.

For appointments and more information, you can call Brittney at 806-241-3654 or hit her up on Facebook and Instagram. This is another great way to support local business right here in Lubbock and support someone who has worked very hard to make their dreams come true.
