My very first vehicle was a 1981 Toyota long bed 4-cylindar pickup. It was red with big aftermarket tires and wheels and a MASSIVE stereo. It was the ugliest thing on the road in Lubbock, if not all of Texas! But I LOVED that truck!

I came across this video of an 'Ugly Truck' competition in Austin back in 1986. I'm not exactly sure what's going on though. Is it a competition? Is it an 'ugly truck club'? Maybe there were just a bunch of people living in the state capitol back in the 80s who drove ugly trucks and saved a lot of money on shirts.

That kid sitting inside his dad's old truck's engine compartment could've just as easily been me in 1986. My dad took me to all kinds of stuff like this! Although, it was the 80s. That could've just been some latchkey kid with nothing to do on a Saturday, so he walked over to see what all the drunk hillbillies were up to. Who knows?

The ladies seemed to get into the festivities as well. Nothing like a hot summer day, some luke-warm PBRs, and some shirtless oil and sweat covered rednecks to get the ladies all hot and bothered!

Did any of YOU ladies ever go to events like this back in the day?

This old Michelin truck is my favorite of the bunch. It's so ugly, it's cute! Kinda like Mater from 'Cars' if he had a cousin that sold tires.

Check out the video here:

Here's another cool video I found with more 'ugly' trucks that are actually really cool!
