Former Texas Tech and Pittsburgh Steelers running back Baron Batch is in legal trouble in Pittsburgh.

Earlier this month, KDKA-TV reported the appearance of graffiti on the Great Allegheny Passage Trail in Pittsburgh, which is a biking and jogging trail located in both Maryland and Pennsylvania.

A week later, KDKA-TV expanded upon their original report and noted that Batch had apologized for painting over 40 illegal works of art on the Great Allegheny Passage Trail.

Nearly 50 “illegal” graffiti tags on the trails of the Great Allegheny Passage have a striking similarity to the art of former Steelers running back Baron Batch.

On June 24, Batch issued a lengthy statement on his website concerning the allegations, that read in part:

"As you all have become very aware of over the last several years, I desire to be a great artist.

And great artists paint on things.

And sometimes great artists paint on things they aren’t supposed to.

As some of you may have recently heard  I broke the rules."

However, now less than a week after Batch issued his statement, the case has developed further.

Pittsburgh Police have issued an arrest warrant for Batch after additional investigation. On Monday, KDKA-TV was told by police, "Police say the 28-year-old will be charged with 30 counts of criminal mischief involving graffiti. Total damages are estimated at $16,200."

As of late Monday night, Batch had not issued any statements on his website, nor his Twitter account, concerning the news of the arrest warrant being issued.

Batch played running back at Texas Tech from 2006, 2008-10. He then moved on to the NFL as a 7th Round draft pick of the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2011. Batch missed the 2011 season after a knee injury and played in 12 games for the Steelers in 2012.

Additional injuries ended his football career as he turned his focus to becoming an artist and entrepreneur through custom salsa. Batch decided to stay in Pittsburgh after his football career ended.
