As Bruce Springsteen‘s career skyrocketed in the early ’80s, he struggled with depression and self-isolation stemming from his complex relationship with his father. This news, and many others, are revealed in an extensive piece in the new issue of the New Yorker.

A 1964 sunburst Fender Stratocaster believed to be used by Bob Dylan when he “went electric” at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival has appeared nearly 47 years after the famous event. If it is genuine, it is believed to be worth up to $1 million.

The Allman Brothers Band have gotten into the festival business. The inaugural Peach Festival will take place Aug. 10-12 at Toyota Pavilion at Montage Mountain in Scranton, Pa. Today (July 12) the band announced the full lineup and ticket information.

On Aug. 28, Art Garfunkel, one of the most pure voices in rock history, will release ‘The Singer,’ a 2-CD, 34-song retrospective. The collection includes work from throughout his nearly 50-year career, including Simon & Garfunkel, his acclaimed solo albums and two new recordings.

Stephen Stills, one-third of Crosby, Stills and Nash, has suggested that the legendary folk-rock trio are finished as a recording entity. The trio are currently on a massive tour together.

For the fifth time in their careers, Chicago and the Doobie Brothers will tour together. The two classic rock bands will be on the road playing mostly sheds and amphitheaters for 25 dates across the country between July 11 and August 26. Chicago are the headliners, but the show promises to have both bands on stage for the finale playing some of their biggest hits.

One of the creepier stories to pass through our desks recently was the news that the crypt that briefly housed Elvis Presley after his death was going to be auctioned off. However, Julien’s Auctions in Beverly Hills, which was slated to sell the crypt on Sunday (June 24) as part of their “Music Icons” collection, has decided to pull the item.

Saturday (June 23) marks the second anniversary of the death of Pete Quaife, the original bassist for the Kinks, who passed away on June 23, 2010 at the age of 66 due to kidney failure. In a new interview, Mick Avory, the group’s drummer from 1964 to 1984, remembers his partner in the Kinks’ rhythm section as being “quite unpredictable.”

Elton John‘s concert in the English seaside resort town of Blackpool was cut short yesterday (June 16) due to safety concerns. Two hours into his concert at the Blackpool Tower Headland — the first ever at the new outdoor arena — he was informed by police that the strong winds could pose a threat to the stage. The audience evacuated and no one was hurt.
