Lubbock Teachers Get Free Backpacks At Big Chicken Event
Lubbock teachers, get ready: Big Chicken is serving up more than drumsticks this Tuesday! On August 12th, from 5–7 p.m., Big Chicken and Townsquare Media are rolling out the red carpet—or rather backpacks—to celebrate educators at Big Chicken, 7411 Milwaukee Avenue.

Teaming Up For a Cause!
In a community-first move, Big Chicken--the fast-growing restaurant chain co-founded by Shaquille O'Neal in 2018--and The Carlson Law Firm are teaming up for a Back-to-School “Teacher” Supply Drive. This event recognizes the countless hours and personal dollars teachers pour into shaping young minds.
What's the Scoop?
Who’s invited? All Lubbock-area teachers—no purchase necessary! Just swing by between 5 and 7 p.m. on August 12.
What’s happening? Teachers will receive backpacks stocked with essential school supplies, plus a special token of appreciation to say “thank you.”
How long will supplies last? Until they’re gone—so early arrival is encouraged.
A Little Big Chicken Backstory
For those who haven’t had a chance to check it out, Big Chicken made quite the splash when it landed in Lubbock in August 2024. Franchisee Coby Jones, a hometown native, opened the first location at 7411 Milwaukee Ave across from The Hub Shopping Center. On opening day, the first 34 guests received a year’s supply of Big Chicken meals—a nod to Shaq’s #34 jersey number.

Why This Matters for Lubbock
Teachers often dip into their own pockets for classroom supplies, and this supply drive is a small but meaningful way to lighten that load. Backpacks filled with tools like pens, paper, and organizers can go a long way toward making the new school year feel a bit less stressful.
Big Chicken’s partnership with Carlson Law Firm and Townsquare Media brings together local business, media, and legal support—showing that when it comes to backing our educators, Lubbock pulls together in a big way!
