Lubbock foodies, get ready for an event that’ll satisfy your taste buds and warm your heart! The Inaugural Carne Guisada Cookoff, hosted by Lubbock’s very own Wes Wicker from Big Wick's, is coming up, and it promises to be a day filled with food, fun, and fundraising.

Here’s the scoop:

This first-ever cookoff will take place at Raider Red Meats at the Animal and Food Sciences Building on the corner of Indiana and Main Streets (1308 Indiana) and will feature 10 contestants battling it out for the title of best carne guisada in West Texas! The stakes? Cash prizes of $300 for 1st place, $150 for 2nd, and $50 for 3rd!

Wicker is covering the costs of the meat and supplies, which means that 100% of the proceeds will go directly to Meals on Wheels in Idalou, TX. Plus, the event will feature an open book policy, so every dollar raised is fully transparent.
