A Sweet Celebration: Bringing Joy To Lubbock Kids at UMC Children’s Hospital

Talk about cool kindness! The Texas Dairy Queen Operators’ Council brought smiles, sprinkles, and sweet treats to UMC Children’s Hospital in Lubbock during a surprise “Blizzard Bash” celebrating 40 years of the iconic Blizzard Treat!

Surprise and Delight

As part of a summer-long celebration across the Lone Star State, DQ operators dropped by UMC for a “Surprise and Delight” event, handing out Blizzard Treats, DQ swag bags, and a healthy dose of joy to young patients, their families, and hospital staff. And yes, Mr. Blizzard himself even made an appearance for photos and a few high-fives!

The event was more than just a treat party—it was part of DQ’s ongoing commitment to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, of which UMC Children’s is a proud member. Since 1984, DQ has supported the network’s mission to ensure children receive the best possible care, regardless of their family’s ability to pay.

It's the 40th Anniversary of the Blizzard

This summer marks 40 years since the Blizzard Treat first hit Texas spoons in 1985, redefining frozen desserts with its now-famous upside-down spin. Over the years, DQ has served up more than 170 different Blizzard flavors, from classic candy-packed concoctions to royal indulgences worthy of their own crown. (The Heath Blizzard is MY go-to!)

And it doesn’t stop there—July 31st is Miracle Treat Day, when $1 or more from every Blizzard sold at participating Texas DQ locations will be donated directly to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. So if you needed a good reason to treat yourself...this is it!

DQ is All About Community
