Chad Hasty's Must-Have Fair Food for the South Plains Fair

The South Plains Fair opened last week and runs through October 1st, 2022, which means you still have plenty of time to enjoy the food, rides, games, and sites. Over the weekend, I came across a post on the LBK Foodies Facebook page asking people what their must-have items were at the fair.

Below, I've compiled my list of must have food places, but I will caution with this: you probably could stop at all of these places in one trip to the fair, but if I were you I'd split it up into a couple of trips to the fair.

Which brings me to Fair Tip #1: Show up before 1 p.m. on the weekdays and before 10 a.m. on the weekend and you get in for free and there's no charge for parking. Use the money you saved on parking and admission of some of the great food.

Fair Tip #2: Clear Bag Policy. For the first time ever, the South Plains Fair has instituted a clear bag policy. It's also the first year that beer is being sold.

Fair Tip #3: No Guns Are Allowed. That's right, none, even if you have a License to Carry, you are not allowed to carry a firearm at the South Plains Fair. This one always seems to catch people by surprise.

Fair Tip #4 Help out your favorite organizations. This is one of the best things about the South Plains Fair. You get to help out some great organizations while you eat. So let's say you want to help out the Shriners. Go have their corn dog, too.

Below are just some of my must-have items at the South Plains Fair. Sadly, I left out one picture, so I'm going to give them credit here. One of my favorite items is the cheeseburger from the little white trailer from Finney New Jerusalem Baptist Church. They're hot, fresh, made to order, and I don't know what it is, but year after year I have to have one. Judging by the line every year, so do a lot of other people.
