Clark Howard to Retire from Daily Radio Show

Clark Howard announced on Monday (November 30th) that he's ending his nationwide radio show at the end of the year.

During his time as a nationally syndicated consumer-advice host, Clark has been based at News/Talk 95.5 & 750 WSB in Atlanta, the same station that also served as the home base for talk show hosts Neal Boortz and Herman Cain, and Washington, D.C.-based capitol reporter Jaime Dupree.

In an interview with Rodney Ho of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Howard said, "Not being under the gun every week with how much content I have to generate for radio is something I’m so relieved not to do anymore. I'm at a point in my life I don't need the money."

Howard is currently 65 years old and has been hosting daily radio shows for about 33  years, according to the AJC.

After retiring from radio, Howard will still run his two websites: Clark.com and ClarkDeals.com. He has a full-time staff dedicated to both of the websites that's separate from the radio show.

Back in 2007, KFYO's Ken Corbin and I had a chance to meet Howard, along with Neal Boortz and George Noory, at KLBJ Talkfest in Austin. Clark was just as friendly and jovial in person as you hear everyday on his radio show. I enjoyed airing Clark's show on my radio stations over the decades and he will be missed.

Until the end of the year, Clark Howard can be heard in Lubbock on Talk 1340 (KKAM) weekdays from 9 - 11 p.m., and in Amarillo on Talk 940 weekdays from 12 - 2 p.m.
