Did You Know About This ‘Fish Hack’ at Lubbock United Stores

As I'm sure you know, United Supermarket has been in the Lubbock area for over 70 years. Even with all of us knowing their stores intimately, some people may not know about one cool service they offer...they'll steam your fish for you!

That's right! You can walk right up to the seafood section, pick out your favorite from their big selection of fish, and they'll toss it in the steamer for you at no charge. Even lobster! They have a great selection of flavors to season your meal with, including Old Bay (my favorite), lemon pepper, and several more.

Here's what they say right on their website:

"Bake, sauté or grill seafood. Avoid frying or serving with cream sauces. Did you know United Supermarkets will season and steam almost any seafood item In our case for free? That makes a healthy dinner quick and easy!"

They make a good point when they say, "avoid frying". I love fried food as much as the next guy. I can do some SERIOUS damage at a Friday night all-you-can-eat catfish fry, but sometimes it's nice to enjoy something on the lighter side.

For example, when I was trying to drop some LBs a few years ago, I used to go to United and have a very healthy lunch by getting big piece of salmon that they would steam with the Old Bay and I would buy a whole avocado from the produce section. It was a PERFECT lunch and it was always under $8!
