Elon Musk and Grimes’ Texas Custody Battle Settled, but Drama Continues
The long and messy custody battle between Elon Musk and Grimes has officially come to an end—at least on paper. The former couple, who share three children (X Æ A-Xii, Exa Dark Sideræl, and Techno Mechanicus...seriously), reached a settlement in Travis County, Texas, with a final order issued in August 2024. But while the legal fight may be over, the drama? Not so much.
Grimes, whose real name is Claire Boucher, recently took to X (formerly Twitter)—ironically, the platform owned by her billionaire ex—to share just how brutal the fight for her kids had been.
“The threat of losing ur kids while going bankrupt fighting for them is not very conducive to creative thoughts,” she wrote.
The musician hinted at the uphill battle she faced in Texas courts, calling out the state’s lack of protections for mothers in custody disputes. She also claimed her social media activity and modeling work were used against her in court.
"Spent a year locked in battle in a state with terrible mothers’ rights... fighting and detaching from the love of my life as he becomes unrecognizable to me.”
One of the biggest differences between Texas and California—where Grimes originally filed her lawsuit—is child support laws. While California has no cap on payments, Texas limits child support to $2,760 per month for three children—an amount that barely registers for the world’s richest man.
But just when you thought the Musk family drama was settling down, another lawsuit surfaced. Conservative influencer Ashley St. Clair recently filed a paternity and custody suit against Musk, claiming he has been uninvolved in their alleged child’s life.
And if that wasn’t enough, Grimes recently went public with a new accusation—claiming Musk ignored her texts about a medical crisis involving one of their children.
So, while the Texas courts might have wrapped things up, it seems like the Musk-Grimes saga is far from over. Stay tuned—because when the world’s richest (and arguably most unpredictable) man is involved, there’s always another twist around the corner.
