Here's an important reminder because, believe it or not, 'Operation Road Risk Reduction' is kicking off again...TOMORROW!

I'm giving you a heads-up, and here's why: The Lubbock Police Department WANTS YOU SAFE and they're working hard to cut down on traffic collisions. Simple, right? Well, apparently not for everybody, so let’s break it down.

First off, let's clear up a few things:

  1. This operation isn't replacing their normal patrols. It's in addition to the daily duties the LPD does every day, so stop with the "it's your job" stuff. This is IN ADDDITION to what they already do.
  2. No, they don’t have to tell you where the officers will be posted. It’s not "entrapment"—look it up. In fact, they're telling you ahead of time as a courtesy and to give you a chance to drive safely. You're should be thankful.
  3. They picked these spots based on your driving habits and crash stats. Yeah, the numbers don’t lie.
  4. Bottom line: SLOW DOWN and DRIVE SAFELY.

Check out the spots they'll be hitting up Thursday and Friday:

  • Slide Road from 58th to 69th Street
  • Quaker Avenue & the South Loop
  • Indiana Avenue & the South Loop
  • University Avenue & the South Loop

All they’re doing is trying to keep you and your loved ones safe out there on the road. So, if you get pulled over tomorrow—or any other day—guess what? That’s on you.

And hey, if writing one ticket saves one life, you can bet the Lubbock Police Department be out there doing it. Stay safe, Lubbock!
