Everything Is Still Awesome In ‘The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part’ Trailer, Only This Time in Space
It’s taken four whole years, but finally Master Builders Emmet and Wyldstyle are back. The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part takes us back to Bricksburg. Everything is still awesome, except one tiny little inconvenience: they’re now threatened by Tiffany Haddish‘s big bad space invader.
The new sequel is set five years after 2014’s The LEGO Movie. In the first teaser trailer, Chris Pratt and Elizabeth Banks’ LEGO heroes are back, but the sequel is taking things to a whole new level: outer space and musicals, with some Mad Max: Fury Road vibes. When their city is in danger from a new evil, the shape-shifting Queen Watevra Wa-Nabi, delightfully voiced by Haddish, Emmet has to blast off the space to rescue Wyldstyle and the rest of the gang. And it all looks just as fun as you’d imagine.
Here’s the full synopsis:
The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part reunites the heroes of Bricksburg in an all new action-packed adventure to save their beloved city. It’s been five years since everything was awesome and the citizens are facing a huge new threat: LEGO DUPLO® invaders from outer space, wrecking everything faster than they can rebuild. The battle to defeat them and restore harmony to the LEGO universe will take Emmet, Lucy, Batman and their friends to faraway, unexplored worlds, including a strange galaxy where everything is a musical. It will test their courage, creativity and Master Building skills, and reveal just how special they really are.
The rest of the voice cast is back, including Will Arnett, Nick Offerman, Channing Tatum, Alison Brie, Jonah Hill, and Charlie Day. There’s wacky action, music, space; what more could you want?! The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part hits theaters February 8, 2019.
