Well, folks, if you thought everything was already bigger in Texas, think again. Humble, Texas, is about to make history with what might just be the most Texas thing ever: the world’s largest hex nut! That’s right, they’re calling it “Big Tex: The Incredible Hex,” and this thing is no ordinary piece of hardware.

This gigantic hex nut, the brainchild of Kris Kolb, CEO of Patriot Bolt and Fasteners, is set to dethrone the current record-holder in Slovenia. Kolb’s inspiration? Simple. He asked himself the ultimate Lone Star question: “Why not hold the record here in Texas?” Honestly, can’t argue with that logic!

Big Tex is being built by the talented team at JK Welding Company, and let me tell you, this nut is a beast! It’s 16 feet wide from flat to flat and 18 feet from point to point. Weighing in at a staggering 4,400 pounds. Just the threads alone required 30 sheets of 14-gauge steel. Talk about heavy-duty!

The project has been in the works for six weeks and, according to Andrew Sosa from JK Welding, it’ll be ready by Friday. Once completed, this colossal nut will be on display at Patriot Bolt and Fasteners for everyone to admire. Because let’s be real—who wouldn’t want to see the world’s largest hex nut?

This isn’t just a piece of oversized hardware; it’s a symbol of Texas pride. Big Tex will officially put Humble, Texas, on the map as the home of the biggest, baddest hex nut in the world. So, if you’re in the area, swing by and check it out. You’ll leave saying, “Now that’s nuts!”
