Former Lubbock-Cooper ISD Teacher Turns Himself In After Being Charged for Child Pornography
A former Lubbock-Cooper ISD elementary school teacher has been charged with possession of child pornography.
Thirty-six-year-old Cody Lee Taylor turned himself into authorities on Thursday.
On February 21st, 2019, Taylor was accused by two female students of attempting to take inappropriate photos of them at Lubbock Cooper North Elementary school.
KAMC News reports that when confronted by the school principal, Taylor refused to turn over his phone and was told to leave the campus. He resigned the next day, February 22nd. A few days later, the Texas Anti-Gang Center opened an investigation.
A search warrant of his phone and home computer later revealed elements of child pornography, including an inappropriate video he allegedly took of a female student at Lubbock Cooper North Elementary. When asked about the video, Taylor claimed it had been taken by accident.
Taylor was charged with possession of Child Pornography, and a warrant for his arrest was issued on Monday. He turned himself in Thursday, was booked into the Lubbock County Detention Center, and released Friday morning. One news source says his bond had been set at $10,000.
