Four Ancient Websites That Are Still Up and Running
As a matter of fact, there are several sites that are still around from the earliest days of the world wide web, and you can go check them out for yourself!
Here are four other ancient websites that you can still use:
The Search Engines "Altavista" and "Excite"
Sadly, Jeeves from AskJeeves.com was killed off back in 2005 when the site shortened its name to Ask.com.
The Official Website for the Movie "Space Jam" which came out in 1996
There's actually TWO versions of this site since the new Space Jam movie came out starring LeBron James. You pick which version you see when you visit the site. And also the official website for "You've Got Mail", which was in 1998.
The Website for the "Heaven's Gate" Cult
They committed mass suicide in 1997. You may remember, they were going to catch a ride with an alien spaceship they said was hiding behind the Hale-Bopp comet. That was 16 years ago, and their website is STILL up.
Friendster
It used to compete with MySpace and Facebook, but it's turned into some kind of gaming site. As a matter of fact, if you go to it, they ask you to register by USING your Facebook account.
Do you know of any more 'ancient' sites? It's kinda cool to go look around on them!
