King George apparently is still the King according to the crowd of Aggies who came out to see him at Kyle Field over the weekend!

George Strait made history on Saturday, when he played Kyle Field at Texas A&M University. He filled the stadium with 110,905 people, which was the largest ticketed crowd in U.S. history. That's a LOT of Aggies!

The previous record was 107,019. That's how many people paid to see the Grateful Dead at Raceway Park in New Jersey in 1977. Can you imagine the cloud of smoke that was over THAT concert?!?

Obviously, George also broke the Kyle Field attendance record. Oh, and he has the record for largest indoor ticketed concert in North America, with 104,793 fans at his AT&T Stadium show in 2014.

Fellow Texas natives Parker McCollum and Catie Offerman opened for George.

McCollum talked about what it's like opening for one of his heroes saying to KAGSTV.com, "I feel like two weeks ago I was 12 years old sitting in my room playing the guitar wanting to be a country singer and I’ve been blessed to do the major record deal thing and have some number ones, but nothing really feels as good as George Strait thinking highly enough of us to put us on this big of a show he’s been doing this for 50 years and he’s playing the biggest show of his career, so for him to let us put our version of country on his stage for an hour and a half that night that’s good.”

That must be an absolutely incredible feeling. Congrats to Parker!
