Where there’s smoke, there’s often fire in the world of TV cancellations, and it seems Girl has officially met it. Girl Meets World will formally end after its final Season 3 episodes in January, according to the show’s writers.

Both Girl Meets World star, director and Boy Meets World lead Rider Strong previously presaged the end in his Literary Disco podcast, though the show’s writers refuted Strong’s claims the series had “ended” after Season 3. The same writers’ Twitter account confirmed the Girl Meets World cancellation on Wednesday:

Granted, the January 20 finale title “Girl Meets Goodbye” tipped viewers off that Season 3 might be the last, as did its all-star reunion cast. In addition to Strong’s return as Shawn Hunter, the episode features William Daniels (Mr. Feeny), Will Friedle (Eric), Anthony Tyler Quinn (Mr. Turner), William Russ (Alan), Betsy Randle (Amy), Lee Norris (Minkus), Danny McNulty (Harley), Lily Nicksay (Morgan No. 1) and Lindsay Ridgeway (Morgan No. 2).

Certainly, Girl Meets World carved out its own distinct corner of the legacy, but had the Matthews’ family values run their course?
