Family Creates GoFundMe After Losing Son and Daughter in Car Crash
The morning of Thursday, January 7th, 2021, 29-year-old Jennifer Garza and 30-year-old Joe Garza Jr. were killed in a car crash. Their family is asking for donations to help pay for their funerals.
The crash happened in the 4600 block of 4th Street at around 1:15 a.m. in the morning. It's said the GMC Yukon, driven by 27-year-old Brittany Gonzales, was traveling eastbound when it left the roadway, struck a tree, rolling and came to a rest.
Jennifer and Joe were pronounced dead at the scene, but Gonzales was taken to University Medical Center with moderate injuries.
It's said on the GoFundMe page that the three of them were celebrating Jennifer's 29th birthday.
To take a quote from the mother, Angelica Garza:
I could never even fathom losing one child let alone two, and it was on the night of my daughter's birthday. Now, I'm in a very tough position to bury two of my kids. I know times are hard for all of us right now due to COVID-19, but if you could spare anything to help me raise funds for my children's funeral and help with the care for my grandkids, I would be forever grateful. If not, please just PRAY for my family and grandkids.
As of 5:20 p.m. on Monday, January 11th, $4,455 of the $20,000 goal has been raised.
