Here in Texas, we love our dips! I can't think of the last time I went to a gathering of any kind—whether it was a tailgate, Christmas party, or backyard barbecue—where there weren't chips and salsa at the very least!

Of course you have the staples:

  • Salsa
  • French Onion dip
  • Green Chile dip
  • etc

But, there are some other great concoctions we all seem to love as well! Things like:

...and sooooo many more!

I mention these great dips because I truly believe we're missing out on a GREAT one that I had never heard of until I started listening to a funny podcast at night to help me get to sleep. The podcast is called 'Are You Garbage' and it's my pleasure to give them a plug here because they're fantastic and hilarious. (I'm what they call a '$10 Homie' - shoutout to 'em!)

Anyway, the guys that host the show--Kippy and Foley--are from the Philly area and they pretty much constantly talk about food. One of the things they seem to mention just about every episode is something called 'Hoagie Dip'. I had no idea what that was until I looked it up today, and let me tell you...I WANT SOME! And so will you by the end of this article.

Here’s what you'll need:

  • Cold cuts: It's really just all your favorites—ham, salami, maybe even some turkey or prosciutto if you’re feeling fancy.
  • Cheese: You can do whatever you like, but I would go with classic provolone and dice it up really, really small
  • Veggies: Shredded lettuce, chopped onions, tomatoes—you know, the usual things that go on a traditional hoagie. Throw in some bell peppers if you want!
  • Condiments: A little mayo or Italian dressing ties it all together. Some folks even add mustard or vinegar for that extra tang.
  • Seasoning: A pinch of oregano, salt, pepper, and maybe a dash of red pepper flakes to kick it up a notch. I also saw that a few people add lemon juice as well.

How do you make it?

It's actually SUPER easy! Just chop everything up, toss it all in a bowl, and boom—you’ve got yourself a chunky, salad-style dip. Grab some crusty bread or hoagie rolls to scoop it up, and watch it get gobbled up by your guests--or YOU!

Trust me, this is the kind of dip you’re gonna wanna bring to every tailgate, game night, or backyard hangout. It’s got all those hoagie flavors you love in one awesome, shareable dish!

Here's a video of some random guy on the internet making it:
