Located just a few hours west of Lubbock, Holloman AFB in southern New Mexico is inviting families from across West Texas and eastern New Mexico to experience a free, two-day air show celebrating both military and civilian aviation.

World-Class Aerial Performances Headline the Weekend

The marquee attraction for the 2026 event will be the Patriots Jet Team, the largest civilian-owned aerobatic jet team in the western hemisphere. The team flies a stunning formation of six Aero L-39 Albatros trainer jets, delivering tight maneuvers, high-speed passes, and synchronized aerobatics that rival any military demonstration.

What makes the Patriots especially impressive is their background. Several pilots previously flew with the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds and the U.S. Navy Blue Angels, bringing elite-level experience to every performance.

In addition to aerial demonstrations, the air show will feature static aircraft displays, giving visitors a close-up look at military aircraft from past to present.

Family-Friendly Fun Beyond the Flight Line

The Legacy of Liberty Air Show is designed to be more than just planes in the sky. Organizers say attendees can expect food vendors, live music, and informational booths throughout the weekend.

Families with kids will find plenty to do, including a dedicated kid zone and a Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) area, aimed at inspiring the next generation of pilots, engineers, and innovators.

It’s an event built for aviation enthusiasts and casual fans alike, offering something for every age group.

More Details Coming Soon

The full lineup of aerial performers and participating units is still being finalized. Holloman AFB officials say additional announcements will be released closer to the event.
