Houston Astros Sweep Cleveland Indians to Advance to the ALCS
The Houston Astros on Monday took care of business as they swept the Cleveland Indians three games to none to win their American League Division Series and advance to the American League Championship Series. The final score in Monday's game was Houston 11 Cleveland 3.
It took until the eighth inning of Monday's games for the Astros' bats to come to life against the Indians. The six runs scored in the eighth, extended the Astros lead from 4-2, to 10-2. Three of the Astros eighth inning runs came from a Carlos Correa opposite field homer, his first hit in the series. George Springer also hit two home runs in Monday's win for Houston.
The Astros beat the Indians 7-2 and 3-1 in the two previous games of the ALDS.
2018 is the second consecutive season the Astros will advance to the ALCS, and it's the second time the Astros will play in the ALCS since switching from the National League in 2013.
