It’s Pi Day! Official State Pies – From Texas Pecan to Florida Key Lime

Today’s a special day—Pi Day! If you paid any attention in math class, you already know that the number pi starts with 3.14... and keeps on going basically forever.

But, I'm not here to talk about math. I'm here to talk about actual PIE!

In Texas, we take our pies seriously—especially our official state pie, which is Pecan Pie, of course. But did you know that four states across the nation have each declared an "Official State Pie"? It’s true! Florida shows off its zesty Key Lime, Illinois embraces the Pumpkin Pie, Texas proudly stands by our beloved Pecan Pie, and Vermont celebrates with a classic Apple Pie.

Now, while we’re all about our Texas pecan pie—rich, buttery, and loaded with crunchy nuts—other states have their own sweet takes. Over in Delaware, their state dessert is none other than Peach Pie.. Meanwhile, Maine keeps things cool with Blueberry Pie, and Massachusetts goes all out with the decadent Boston Crème Pie. And, adding a savory twist to the pie game, Louisiana has even got a “State Meat Pie” on the menu—specifically, the hearty Natchitoches Meat Pie which is actually really, really good. I once at so many of them in New Orleans that I nearly got sick. That's a story for another time though...
