Things That Should TOTALLY Count As Exercise In Lubbock
Everyone is always looking for a new way to get their steps in, but if you live here, you might be doing a lot more cardio than you realize. I don't think our fitness watches are giving us enough credit.
I think Lubbock needs its own fitness tracker, specially designed just for us...
The Official Lubbock Workout Routine
Walking across a Walmart parking lot in Lubbock on an exceptionally windy day should 100% count as a major workout. If you're leaning into a gust of wind enough to look like Michael Jackson on the "Smooth Criminal" music video, you've probably burned some bonus calories.
Did you load your groceries up in that same ridiculous wind?
Agility training. Duh.
Ever wrestled a patio umbrella back into place?
Upper body workout, at its finest.
I'm fairly certain that even walking around with a pizza box on certain days here should garner some recognition. Not to mention, runaway receipts. How many of those have you chased down in Lubbock? Probably enough to burn some serious calories...
It's Hot, Y'all
Let's not forget the everyday challenge of unloading our cars in the middle of July. That's enough sweat to qualify as an intense cardio sesh.
Mowing your yard here should be worth about a billion workout points. Between the heat, the wind, the dust, and everything else in between, it's pretty much outdoor boot camp.
If only we could convince our fitness trackers to recognize that basic survival in Lubbock, Texas, should be worth a couple of hundred extra calories a day, we could all add a few scoops of ice cream per day to our diet plan.
Sigh.
Pass the rice cakes.
