Ruidoso, New Mexico residents were ordered to evacuate yesterday, June 17th, 2024, due to the blazing South Fork fire and Salt Fire. Locals were also told not to try to save any of their belongings. As of this morning, the fires are considered 0% contained and have burned roughly 20,000 acres.

The footage of the fire is unbelievable. You can see it burning all around downtown. The smoke is so thick, it can ever be seen from outer space.

Here are a couple of videos shared on YouTube within the past 24 hours:

Ruidoso isn't the only place experiencing horrific wildfires today. According to the National Interagency Fire Center, 10 wildfires were reported in California, 5 in Alaska, 4 in New Mexico, 3 in Arizona, 2 in Washington, 2 in Colorado, 1 in Oregon, 1 in Utah, and 1 in North Carolina. Unfortunately, every fire on the list is listed at 0% containment.

If you are in the area of any of these fires, please pay close attention to the news and heed the warnings from local officials. They move much faster than you might realize and a few minutes could mean the difference between life and death.
