Pinching Someone On St. Paddy’s Day Can Land You In Jail
Did you know something as innocent as pinching someone on St. Paddy's Day for not wearing green can actually land you in jail for battery? Pretty crazy, huh? It all comes down to the definition of battery.
Most states define battery as physically touching another person in an offensive way or in a way that causes bodily injury. Pinching fits right into that category. I think you could argue your intent in court if you had to when it comes to a playful pinch on St. Paddy's Day, though. I guess it all just depends on how mad the person you pinched is...
So, has anyone ever actually been arrested for pinching?
Yes. Plenty of people have been tossed in jail for pinching someone. I would imagine the bulk of cases are more sexually charged, and less about wearing green. A couple of years ago, a Republican politician in Connecticut was even arrested for pinching a woman on the butt.
That's definitely a no-no. You'd think he would know better...
Nobody has a fundamental right to touch anybody else, even gently...so be careful this weekend when you pinch people around you for not wearing green. You don't want to end up in the pokey for something stupid like that. Imagine telling your big scary celly that you're in trouble for pinching somebody.
Use discretion with your pinchers and your pinchees...or whatever...
