Finally, there is new life in the long-closed Taco Bell location at Quaker and 50th here in Lubbock. I mean, this Taco Bell isn't even millennial gray, so we know it's from a bygone era. Why do fast food places do that anyway?

This building is now home to Los Victor's #15, which offers California-style Mexican food, a genre of Mexican food that I'm particularly fond of for many reasons, including the decadent carne asada fries.

Other Los Victor's locations are peppered through Texas, New Mexico, and... Wisconsin. Wisconsin deserves good Mexican food too.

The location is set to open tomorrow (1/19/2023) with opening celebrations including a jumper for the kids and live music from Grupo Eskalantes.

Looking at the rather extensive menu for the Clovis restaurant is making me ravenous. The Los Victor's Super burrito contains carne asada, bacon, cheese, sour cream, lettuce, pico de gallo, beans, rice, and guacamole. Super indeed!

Other California-style favorites like rolled tacos, shrimp burritos, fish tacos, and wet burritos are on the Clovis menu as well, so I'm hoping for those items to be here in Lubbock as well. I would strongly consider a shrimp burrito as a last meal if I'm ever in that predicament.

Lubbock is home to many restaurants, especially in the Mexican food genre. Luckily, we all love Mexican food, and I'm happy to see this variety here in Lubbock. Just because we are in Texas doesn't mean we have to stick to the Tex-Mex genre, as Cali-style is extremely delicious and satisfying as well. Variety is the spice of life, right?
