After making an initial announcement that the Wild Lark bookstore (513 Broadway) was to close, it appeared that perhaps the business could restructure and remain open.

Sadly, Wild Lark was not able to meet its fundraising goals for the store and will have a liquidation sale with all books marked down to only $5. But before you get too melancholy- I have some good news about Wild Lark coming up.

First, the sale: it will take place this Tuesday through Thursday (August 29th through 31st) in the evenings between 5:30 P.M. and 8:30 P.M. All books are $5 and bookshelves are available for $250.

We'll be liquidating the bookshop this week, so come on by to stock up your TBR for the coming cozy, autumn season!

 

Even though the bookstore is closing, this is NOT the end for Wild Lark, which will remain steadfast with its non-profit mission:

to provide education, resources, programs, and financial support for writers and storytellers of historically unserved and minority community voices.

Additionally, Wild Lark has The Young Writers Project, with a focus on providing support for younger authors- a group that tends to be overlooked in spite of the fact that every writer was once a young one themselves.

Wild Lark offers various services for authors including editing, coaching & classes, and illustration. If you are an aspiring author in the local area, I highly encourage you to explore Wild Lark's website and see what they can do for you. Trust me when I say that writing can be intimidating, but as Mark Twain said:

“Writing is easy. All you have to do is cross out the wrong words."

In other words, just start. You can delete, erase, or cross out the wrong words later. And if you need a little help as you go, luckily Lubbock has Wild Lark in our corner.
