Unique Lubbock Dessert Option Closes Location- Will They Find A New One?
A unique Lubbock desert destination has abruptly closed its Southwest Lubbock location, leaving a note on the door. But there is hope for this business.
Whip'd Pies left the following message on the door at 4406 114th St, Ste 200:
Dear Customers,
We regret to inform you that we are closed for the time being. We are currently looking for a new location (with seating!) and hope to return soon. Follow our Instagram for updates @whipdpies. Thank you for your patronage and we hope to see you soon.
Whip'd Pies specializes in customizable individual pie treats, and I am a particular fan of its coconut cream pie flavor.
While this location may be shuttered, I wouldn't put Whip'd down for the count. It has existed in slightly different iterations for many years in Lubbock, such as The Pie Bar.
I always hate to see a local Lubbock concept fail, but I think Whip'd is simply regrouping- a "live to fight another day" scenario. There is a major clue in their door message about why this location had issues- and as someone who visited the location, I agree that the lack of seating was a problem.
I like to pair my treat experience with a nice, cozy place to sit (couches and overstuffed chairs, please!) to enjoy it with friends. I'd also like to see them return to a model that is also a coffee shop, as I seem to remember was the case at their original Kingsgate location. And I would be thrilled if they returned to Kingsgate, as it's a stone's throw from our studios.
Best of luck Whip'd, we hope to see you return very soon.
