[WATCH] Tesla Autopilot Feature Nearly Causes Collision With Officer

Tesla's autopilot feature has come into question over and over again since its development back in 2014. 10 years later, there are still kinks to work out. As much as I'd like to sit back and relax while my car did all the driving, videos like this bring me back to reality.

X user @fixorfkit shared harrowing footage of what was ALMOST a head-on collision with a police officer when the autopilot feature moved the vehicle into oncoming traffic to avoid a cyclist. If not for the driver paying close attention, this situation could have been deadly.

Tesla insists that the autopilot feature is safer than a regular driver alone. In 2024, the company claimed the Tesla autopilot feature to be 10 times safer than the US average. Be that as it may, many of us are still willing to take our chances and drive the old-fashioned way.

My dad had the opportunity to take a ride in a Tesla using the autopilot feature when his co-worker bought one a few years ago. He said it was pretty cool, but that he was also incredibly nervous. I imagine I'd be squeezing my buttcheeks together the entire time.
